Municipal Setting Designation for Contaminated Retail Site

Texas Real Estate Developer

WES conducted a Phase II ESA sampling at this retail center in central Texas. The Site was impacted with metals in the soil and dry cleaning related compounds such as tetrachloroethene (“perc”) in the groundwater. The property was subsequently entered into TCEQ’s Voluntary Cleanup Program. Since the contaminants were present above TCEQ Action Levels, WES is utilizing an MSD. The site was; however, located in a small city that was not aware of the MSD process. WES worked with the City to develop an MSD resolution and was accepted as the first MSD applicant. Following certification of the MSD by TCEQ, WES will complete the VCP and request site closure.
